Part-time Managing Director
Job Description

Write applications for and manage grants to help the Palmer Arts Council work toward our mission of facilitating the arts in Palmer, Alaska. This includes significant capital campaigns and future funding for continued employment.

Work closely with the board of directors (and multiple committees) to facilitate and manage multiple aspects of the organization: outside operations, event planning and marketing, membership, etc.

Carry out and maintain the organization’s public information campaigns, including television and radio interviews, and website and social media updates.

Be the public face of the organization. Be willing to talk with the media and answer questions from the public.

Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the organization, including networking with partner organizations, applying for venues and permits, tracking grants, preparing budgets, paying invoices, answering phone calls and emails, etc.

Be flexible with hours worked, to include attending monthly board meetings (evenings) as well as sometimes working special events (weekends).

It is possible for the Managing Director to work from home, if desired, or alternatively in the Palmer Arts Council office located in downtown Palmer.
Ideal qualifications

Grant writing and management experience.

Experience in the art and/or music industry.

Proficiency with office computer software (MS Word and Excel) and website management.

Experience working with non-profit organizations in Alaska.

Knowledge of basic financial management and budgeting.
Minimum qualifications

Willingness & enthusiasm to work toward our mission and vision (see Page 2).

Ability to communicate well with the board of directors and the general public.

Good organizational skills.

Ability to work well independently.
Hours and compensation
-
This job is a permanent, part-time (up to 40 hr/month) position.

Compensation will be $30/hour. No fringe benefits offered at this time.
